Tapestry Rewoven, the most recent musical project of Cathy DeWitt and her group of renowned Gainesville musicians, gives the audience a chance to relive an era of innocence, transition and freedom. In 1971, Carole King’s album Tapestry was No. 1 for 15 weeks in a row. It was the first album by a female singer/songwriter to win a Grammy, FOUR in fact. Every song spoke to a wide variety of people. More than 25 million copies were sold worldwide, and it stayed on the charts for years, holding the record of longevity for two decades.
This tribute concert is now available for booking at your next concert event. The band faithfully reproduces the sound of the entire Tapestry album, along with many songs Carole King composed that were performed by other famous groups, including The Byrds, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, The Cookies, The Shirelles, The Everly Brothers, and The Drifters. DeWitt and this “Tapestry Rewoven” group gave their first performance at the Spanish Court inside the Historic Thomas Center in Gainesville, FL on the 45th anniversary of the album’s release in 2016. That event sold out to an enthusiastic, standing-room-only crowd. The band features a full rhythm section and five vocalists who create stunning harmonies.
After this, Tapestry Rewoven was invited to open the 2016 series of Free Friday Downtown concerts put on by the City of Gainesville in the Bo Diddley Plaza. With 1800 in attendance, it was the largest opening in the history of the series.
Tapestry is an album that unexpectedly won over the hearts of the “baby boomers.” Now you can bring this magical and memorable musical experience to your own group, organization, or facility!
